Missions Committee

The purpose of the mission committee is to educate the members of the church to the mission program, and to encourage and inspire not only gifts of money, but gifts of time and talent. The Missions Committee disperses the funds given by members for outreach purposes. There are 6 members on the committee, 2 elected each year to 3-year terms. Among these, one is elected the treasurer; one, the secretary; one, the chairman; and one, a representative to the church council. Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month.

Main items of concern are as follows:
· Establish and administer the mission’s budget. Keeping in mind the denominational outreach requirements, as well as gifts to specific organizations that the committee deems worthy.
· Provide a missions speaker for one Sunday each year.
· Collect for two, possibly three, special denominational offerings each year.
. These offerings are preceded by mailings sent out by the committee.

· Collect for emergency offerings, as the need arises.
· Give a Missions Moment once a month during church service.

This is a wonderful committee. It has the opportunity to reach beyond our local scene and offer real help and witness. The budget currently is just over $9,000; but with the extra offerings and the emergency offerings, our church gives approximately $11,000 a year to mission outreach projects.
